Caroline Rungger - Arts & Cultural Management
Enabling Ideas To Take Shape

IN
PRACTICE

I am Caroline Rungger, an independent cultural manager, a professional in contemporary art and culture. I work with artists, institutions and private individuals on exhibitions, new creative initiatives and projects with social impact. Whether an idea is still just that – an idea – or has already begun to take shape, I work out what it needs next and who should be part of it.
What I do:

I work on cultural projects, exhibitions and new initiatives. I help give them a shape, with research, curatorial input and a plan to make it work. Project dossiers, funding applications and the search for the right partners are part of the work.

I manage the production of art projects, events and art commissions, from planning to installation, mostly behind the scenes. That means schedules, budgets, transport, loans, insurance, suppliers, and quite a lot of communication to keep in sync.

I write multilingual texts for catalogues, publications and press. I also look after websites, newsletters and social media. A project should have its own voice and style. Designers and developers come in when a project needs them.

I advise private clients and organisations on acquisitions and collection development, and on choosing established or emerging art for homes, offices and hotels. I also enjoy supporting artists and young cultural organisations with funding and strategy.

PEU
À PEU

An unfinished form. The strange order hidden inside the chaos. A familiar image that suddenly turns uncanny. A material pushed into unexpected use. A title that argues with the image. A sentence with thousands of meanings. The gesture that took two seconds or two years. And those images that follow you home. And stay.

Years of looking taught me to read images and the market, but also situations and intentions. This way of observing shaped what I do. I found my place behind the scenes, where a good eye and a sense of the bigger picture (and of humour) can be quite useful.

After studying and gaining experience in Italy, England, and France, I joined Grieder Contemporary in Zurich, working closely with Swiss and international artists as well as with the family’s private collection. I later moved to Zurich Art Weekend, where, as General Manager, I contributed to its successful development into an established international art event. From there, my work moved beyond the art world, into cultural and socially oriented organisations, fundraising and the activation of spaces.

Today I work successfully on creative projects, advisory, partnerships and communication, depending on what an idea needs. I enjoy moving between different roles and worlds. The quietest of these is a material practice I have kept for many years now, working with ceramics and other natural materials. Same eye, slower hands, yet it gives me a different kind of focus. A slower, a more human one.

It all keeps evolving, step by step. Peu à peu.

WHAT SHAPE COULD IT TAKE?

REACH
OUT

If this speaks to you and you have an idea that seeks a form, or just want to exchange thoughts, feel free to get in touch. I am based between Zurich and the Dolomites, though a good idea usually finds me anywhere.

I speak and dream in Ladin, Italian, German, French and English. I also like crème brûlée, dogs and art fairs, not necessarily in that order.
